Hello, fabulous. Dr. Stephanie Fein here with weight loss for fertility. And it is summer. It's so official. It's the first of July. If you're listening to this, when it comes out, meaning Fourth of July weekend is here. And nothing Sundays summer like Fourth of July, that's for sure.

Fireworks and all the rest of that stuff. We've been lucky. I'm in Southern California and it's been June gloom. We have June gloom around here because we're close ish to the ocean and there's cloud cover all morning. And where I am, it clears up by the afternoon, actually, by the beach. It does not clear up usually. And it's just delightful because for me, we can get over 110 in the real thick of summer, which is awfully toasty for me. Some people like it.

I just ran into someone who said she loved it so much she, like, wants to be in the sun. I'm at the time of my life where I'm wearing hats, you know, big ones, like, not just little ones. But I still love summer. I love the longer days, the sense, like, it's so light. I always think of the word light. I do feel lighter. I think we get lighter. I love summertime for weight loss.
Stephanie Fein MD [00:01:26]:
And so that's what this is gonna be about. I'm gonna point you to some things, but in general, ride the wave of lightness. We're wearing lighter clothes. We're sort of more aware and in touch with our body. We may be in swimsuits. It's a different time. And as long as we don't let our brain run wild with its criticism and negative thinking, and we talk about that a lot here, that we don't want to let that voice go nuts. My mentor says it's like a toddler with a knife, right? We don't want it to just run wild.
Stephanie Fein MD [00:02:05]:
We want to be able to love it and gently redirect it, gently remove the knife. And getting on a bathing suit or wearing lighter clothes can be something where our brain would go nuts. And what we want to do is acknowledge it. And what I mean by that is just notice and then choose a different thought. And we can do that. I know it sounds nuts, like. No, the thoughts just occur to us. No, actually there's.
Stephanie Fein MD [00:02:38]:
It's not a better thought if it just popped into your head. That's just more a habituated thought. We can choose a thought and that be an even better thought to think. So I highly recommend doing that, particularly if we're buying new bathing suits. The other things Besides that, that would be that alone right there. If with bathing suits came a redirecting of your brain and a getting practiced and skilled at that, oh, my goodness, you would permanently lose weight and life would feel a lot better. So, yay for bathing suits. They can help us in so many ways, but also they feel amazing because then we get to go swimming or feel the sun on our skin or, you know, hang out on a floaty.
Stephanie Fein MD [00:03:26]:
You know what I mean? Go down a river, you know, go in the waves. There's so many wonderful things with summer, and being in the water is one of them. And I want to encourage all of that behavior and how it relates to weight loss. I'm going to tell you, in fact, I'm going to do better than that. I'm going to direct you to three podcasts that I did about summer that hold up. And it's this little summer series. And you can take it when you're traveling on your summer trip or going for a long walk or floating down that river. And they're episodes 30, 31, and 32, and we're gonna hook those up in the show notes, but also you can go to them 30, 31 and 32.

It's a summer series I did. It's gonna be two years ago now. And they're the basics of how to lose weight this summer. And there's some really good points in there. So I would love to invite you to listen to those and implement what's there so that you can lose weight this summer. Either start your weight loss or continue your weight loss. Because what we don't want is, oh, it's summer. I'll just start, you know, in September.

We start now when you want to lose weight. Because it's not a painful process. If it was going to be a painful process, I get why you'd want to postpone it. But it's not a painful process the way we do it here. And so you can start anytime because you're not depriving yourself. You're not restricting yourself. We're eating what we want. We're just eating when we're hungry, stopping when we're satisfied.
Stephanie Fein MD [00:05:20]:
And then we have the added support of summer, longer days, great fruits and vegetables, grilling, which is a wonderful way. There's so much support movement that we can enjoy that summer is a great time to lose weight. So listen to episode 30, 31 and 32, and you will be set come September.
